ASJF Leadership

ASJF Leadership and Governance

The Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF) is governed through a democratic and inclusive leadership structure designed to promote professionalism, transparency, and independence in sports journalism.

ASJF operates through two main governing bodies:

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the primary operational body of ASJF. It is responsible for managing the federation’s daily affairs, implementing national programs, coordinating activities, and making organizational decisions.

The Executive Committee works in collaboration with ASJF’s specialized commissions, including the Cricket Commission, Football Commission, Olympic Commission, and Women’s Commission, which provide professional expertise and recommendations to support the development of sports journalism in Afghanistan.

International Board

The International Board represents ASJF members and journalists based outside Afghanistan, including exiled journalists. The Board provides oversight, international engagement, advice, and strategic guidance to ensure that ASJF’s activities remain consistent with international journalism principles, professional standards, and the independence of sports media.

Both governing bodies are committed to:

  • Democratic decision-making and accountable leadership;
  • Inclusive membership, including the participation of women journalists and exiled journalists;
  • Protecting the independence, rights, and professional development of sports journalists in Afghanistan;
  • Promoting ethical and professional standards in sports media.
