The Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF) is pleased to announce preparations for the ASJF Annual Congress, an important annual gathering dedicated to bringing together ASJF members, sports journalists, representatives of sports organizations, media institutions, and key stakeholders in the Afghan sports community.
The Congress will provide a professional platform for dialogue, consultation, networking, institutional cooperation, and the exchange of ideas on the present and future of sports journalism in Afghanistan.
Aim of the Congress
The ASJF Annual Congress aims to strengthen the relationship between sports journalists, media institutions, sports organizations, and other stakeholders while creating an opportunity for ASJF members to actively contribute to the Federation’s future direction.
The Congress will provide a platform to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing Afghan sports journalism, identify priorities for the coming year, strengthen professional cooperation, and develop practical ideas that support sports journalists across Afghanistan and those working in exile.
Mission
The mission of the ASJF Annual Congress is to build a stronger, more professional, independent, inclusive, and connected sports media community.
Through open dialogue and cooperation, the Congress seeks to:
Strengthen unity and professional cooperation among ASJF members.
Discuss the current situation, challenges, and future of Afghan sports journalism.
Strengthen cooperation between sports journalists and sports organizations.
Promote professional standards, ethics, responsible reporting, and development in sports journalism.
Support opportunities for young and female sports journalists.
Strengthen connections between sports journalists working inside Afghanistan and those in exile.
Identify training, education, networking, and professional development opportunities.
Provide ASJF members with an opportunity to share recommendations and contribute ideas for future ASJF programmes.
Encourage stronger communication between sports media, federations, athletes, and other sporting institutions.
Who Can Participate?
Participation in the ASJF Annual Congress will primarily be open to:
ASJF Members — Sports journalists and media professionals who are registered members of the Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation.
Sports Organizations and Federations — Representatives of national and provincial sports federations, sports organizations, clubs, and other relevant sporting institutions.
Media Organizations — Representatives of television, radio, print, digital, and other media organizations involved in sports coverage.
Sports Journalists and Media Professionals — Selected journalists, photographers, commentators, broadcasters, editors, and other professionals working within sports media.
Women and Young Sports Journalists — ASJF particularly encourages the participation and professional engagement of women and emerging sports journalists.
Special Guests and Partners — Representatives of partner organizations, athletes, sports officials, media experts, and other invited national and international guests may also participate.
How to Participate
Participation in the ASJF Annual Congress will be through registration or official invitation, depending on the participant category.
ASJF members will be able to submit their participation requests once registration officially opens. Sports organizations, media institutions, partners, and special guests may participate through official invitation or institutional registration.
The registration process will include basic participant information, professional affiliation, ASJF membership information where applicable, and other details required by the Congress organizing committee.
