The Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF) is preparing a specialized professional workshop for female sports journalists, focusing on reporting and storytelling across Olympic sports.
The workshop, scheduled for October 2026, is part of ASJF’s commitment to supporting female journalists, strengthening their professional skills, and creating greater opportunities for women to participate in sports media.
Aim of the Workshop
The workshop aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge of Olympic sports and develop the practical journalistic skills required to report accurately, professionally, and confidently on athletes, competitions, federations, and major sporting events.
Particular attention will be given to helping female journalists expand their coverage beyond the most frequently reported sports and develop the skills needed to tell compelling stories about athletes and Olympic disciplines.

Understanding the Olympic Movement and Olympic sports
How to report professionally from sporting competitions
Preparing for interviews with athletes, coaches, and officials
Writing strong sports news reports and feature stories
Understanding results, records, rankings, and competition formats
Mobile and digital reporting from sporting events
Photography, video, and multimedia storytelling
Reporting on female athletes professionally and responsibly
Journalism ethics, accuracy, verification, and fairness
Developing stories about Afghan athletes for national and international audiences
Who Can Participate?
The workshop is primarily intended for female sports journalists and aspiring female sports journalists from Afghanistan, including those currently living and working in Afghanistan and those working in exile.
Female journalists working in television, radio, print, online media, photography, video journalism, and other digital platforms will be encouraged to apply.
A limited number of places may be available to young women seeking to develop a professional career in sports journalism.
How to Participate
Participation will be through an ASJF application and selection process.
Interested participants will be asked to provide basic personal and professional information, their media organization or journalism experience where applicable, and a short explanation of why they wish to participate.
Priority may be given to active ASJF members and applicants who demonstrate a genuine commitment to sports journalism and continued professional development.
